This study investigated the difficulties faced by tenth grade students at SMA 1 Labuan Haji, East Lombok, in learning English. The study identified key challenges in vocabulary acquisition, understanding and application of grammar, speaking skills, and low motivation. Data collected from 100 students through questionnaires revealed that 72% of students struggled with vocabulary retention, 65% had difficulty with grammar application, and 58% experienced anxiety when speaking English. Furthermore, 60% of students reported low motivation due to monotonous teaching methods and an unsupportive learning environment. The findings also showed a significant correlation between learning motivation and English proficiency (r = 0.65, p < 0.05), as well as between learning environment and learning difficulties (r = -0.52, p < 0.05). This study suggests that improving teaching methods, fostering a supportive and interactive learning environment, and enhancing student motivation are essential to overcome these challenges. These measures are expected to improve students' engagement, confidence and overall achievement in English language learning.
