JIISR: Journal of Interdisciplinary Islamic Studies Review applies a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the academic quality, originality, relevance, and integrity of every manuscript published by the journal.
All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening to assess their relevance to the journal's focus and scope, compliance with the author guidelines, originality, and basic academic quality. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's requirements may be returned to the authors before entering the peer-review stage.
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are evaluated through a double-blind peer-review process, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential. Each manuscript is normally evaluated by at least two qualified reviewers with relevant expertise.
Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on several aspects, including:
- originality and contribution to knowledge;
- relevance to the journal's focus and scope;
- clarity of research objectives and research questions;
- appropriateness of theoretical framework;
- methodological rigor;
- quality and adequacy of data and analysis;
- clarity of discussion and interpretation;
- consistency between findings, discussion, and conclusions;
- quality and relevance of references; and
- compliance with academic and publication ethics.
Based on reviewers' recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief and/or Editorial Board will make the final editorial decision. Possible decisions include accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject. Authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts more than once when necessary. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the reviewers for further evaluation.
JIISR also provides an opportunity for authors to appeal an editorial decision by submitting a reasoned explanation to the editorial office. Appeals will be considered according to the journal's editorial policies and will not guarantee a change in the original decision.
The peer-review process is managed with confidentiality, impartiality, and academic independence. Reviewers and editors are expected to disclose potential conflicts of interest and maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts. This approach follows the principle that peer-review procedures should be clearly described and appropriately managed
