Abstract

This study explores legal protection for consumers in digital transactions in Indonesia's growing digital economy. Using a qualitative research approach, data were obtained through literature review and in-depth interviews with legal experts and consumer protection agencies. The study finds that existing laws—such as the Consumer Protection Act and the Electronic Information and Transactions Act—have not effectively addressed the rapid and complex nature of digital transactions. Issues include weak enforcement, limited legal awareness among consumers, and insufficient personal data protection. Cross-border e-commerce platforms further complicate legal accountability. The findings highlight the urgent need for adaptive regulations and stronger collaboration among stakeholders. The study also emphasizes the importance of improving legal and digital literacy to empower consumers and ensure fair protection in the evolving digital landscape.
