Abstract

This study explores the protection of children's rights from the perspective of Islamic law and the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), with a focus on the role of the Social Services Agency (Dinas Sosial) in Mataram City. Employing a qualitative approach, data were gathered through interviews, documentation, and observation of social programs. The findings show that the Dinas Sosial Mataram implements various programs in alignment with the CRC and Islamic principles, especially in preventing neglect, abuse, and exploitation. This research highlights the complementarity between Islamic law—which emphasizes protection (ḥimāyah), compassion (raḥmah), and justice (‘adālah)—and international human rights standards. The synergy between Islamic values and the CRC can strengthen child protection policies that are culturally and religiously contextualized.
